According to Islam, the first existence, or rather the first being, is considered a spiritual entity, and these spiritual beings are given the title of angels. However, according to science, these are considered purely superstitions. Science, after all, is based on concrete evidence rather than abstract concepts. So, let's embark on a long journey together to explore where the first living being or object in the universe originated and why it exists.
The subject of research for historians, regarding the origin of life and the first evolution, is this: Genetic studies and fossil records suggest that the evolutionary process of the primate class, to which humans belong, began around 60-65 million years ago, during the Paleocene epoch. But instead of focusing on the evolution of the first human, let's discuss the evolution of the first being, that is, how an inanimate entity evolved into a living one. Could the first inanimate entities have been atoms? This is a plausible hypothesis, as atoms are indeed inanimate entities. Around 60-65 million years ago or even further back, these inanimate substances—such as neutrons, protons, nuclei, electrons, in short, atoms—along with energy-releasing inanimate substances, may have come together to trigger the start of evolution, leading to the existence of the first living microorganisms. I say "may have" because this has been a subject of discussion for centuries among biologists, physiologists, and philosophers.
Afterward, this evolutionary process has continued uninterrupted for millions, even billions, of years, and it still continues today. Now, is mutation a part of evolution? Or do entities that have undergone mutation, which have taken on tangible, living forms, carry evolutionary significance? The answer is yes. Mutations are indeed a part of evolution and are one of the two evolutionary mechanisms proposed by Neo-Darwinism. In fact, humans have not fully evolved. If we had, we would have become an extraordinary being. Instead, we left our evolution halfway, mutating and adapting through nature. It cannot be said that humans are fully evolved because, along the evolutionary path, we encountered many events and situations, and we adapted to these by undergoing mutations.
